19 more join the MLS Elite Youth Development Platform

The total of participating clubs has blown right through the century mark, now at 113 with more than 11,000 athletes. The ranks now consist of 30 MLS pro academies, 5 from the USL with another 78 academies. This only kicked off in May when the USSF pulled the plug and the league took the reins for the US & Canada. 

Frank Lipka VP & Technical Dir. MLS Player Development informed "The spirit of this platform is ensuring representation across the entire soccer landscape. Seeking input from all members and catering to players from diverse backgrounds is at the core of this. We are excitied to welcome these academies and thousands of elite players and look forward to additional expansion."
