He is already experienced in the higher levels of soccer in his native country, Belgium & Italy. The first round pick for NYCFC, GK Barraza is now signed after his being the 12th selection overall. Luis stated, "It's a dream come true. I'm honored and proud to wear the NYCFC badge. It's one of the happiest moments in my life." The team clearly wanted him, they traded up from 19 to 12 and sent $75,000 of GAM to the Galaxy to make the selection. Sporting Directior Claudio Reyna stated," Luis is a very good goalkeeper with a bright future.

His bio reads he is 6' 2" and 161 pounds, I am 6' 170 so he and the team must hope a strong wind does not hit Wake Med Park and take away Sam Brotherton. He is described as a big signing, that might be a tall order for a 160 pounder but enough on that. He has some top teams on his resume including Sunderland where he was a center back, the same role Dave Sarachan expeccts him to fill now. A veteran of the New Zeland national team he already has 15 games to his credit including World Cup qualifiers.

The Whitecaps and Canadian international Marcel De Jong have mutually agreed to part ways, having appeared in 46 games overall for the team. 'Cap HC Marc Dos Santos had this to say, "We are thankful to Marcel for his contributions." In his 2 plus years with the team he had 6 assists. He has been with teams in a few nations including the academy for Holland powerhouse PSV Eindhoven, in Germany with Augsburg, Ottowa of the NASL in Canada and MLS side Sporting KC.

Target who have partnered with MLS clubs on mini pitches, have now pitched in with USC and their efforts by way of $90,000 worth of grants for coaching education in the deployment as they put it, of Urban Soccer Initatives's nationwide This is being do with the KIDS in the GAME & Target Corps. Youth Soccer Grant Initiative. Starting by the end of March, these Urban Soccer Diplomas and others of its' ilk wil be done in various cities.
