Jacksonville Armada FC of National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) secured a berth into the third round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday evening after defeating Tampa Bay Rowdies of United Soccer League, 1:0, at the Southern Oak Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

After a scoreless first half in this Open Cup Second Round encounter, forward J.C. Banks notched the eventual game-winner for the NPSL side in the 58th minute-mark.

Jacksonville, who played last year in the NASL (North American Soccer League), will now host the third-round match-up, of the single-elimination tournament, next Wednesday (May 23) against another NPSL team, Miami United FC, whom defeated Miami FC 2, 3:1, during second round action this evening.

Miami FC 2, who’s first team also competed in the NASL in 2017, took a 1:0 lead against visiting Miami United at FIU Soccer Stadium after a tally from midfielder Dylan Mares in the 17th minute.  Miami FC 2 then had to play with 10 players after forward Kris Typrak was ejected just before halftime.

In the second half, Colombian midfielder David Ochoa scored back-to-back goals in a span of three minute (49th & 52nd) to give Miami United a 2:1 lead.  Brazilian forward Victor Pelae had third tally for Miami United in stoppage time for the Miami United victory.
