Coach John Hackworth leads the US u-17's in India

The United States Under 17 National Teams heads off for training in Dubai for the World Cup Sept 24 hosted by India. This team will feature 18 players from the USSDA and 6 Pros. All games will be broadcast on FS2 and Universo. Placed in Group A along with Colombia, Ghana & home team India. Scheduled games are on 10/6 @ 1030 am India in New Delhi, 10/9 @ 7 am Ghana also New Delhi & 10/12 @ 10:30 Colombia in Mumbai, all times are East Coast times. 

The tourney will play out in 6 cities, Kochi, Goa, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Guwahati & Kulkata. The round of 16 will be contested on 10/16, 17 & 18, with the final and 3rd place games on 10/26 in the 66,000 seat stadium in Kulkata.

Local representation is strong with  Christopher Gloster of New York Red Bulls from Montclair NJ, Jeff Sanos of NYCFC from Rye NY, Tyler Shaver of NYCFC from Greenwich CT and Tim Weah of PSG from Rosedale Queens.

How they got there. On the strength of 5 consecutive wins, 5-0 Jamaica, Mexico 4-3 in penalties, El Salvador 1-0, the next stage Honduras 3-0 then of course the final over Cuba 1-0. This ended a 25 match unbeaten run for Mexico in CONCACAF play for the U 17's and the first US win v them at this level. 

The foreign based players:

Josh Sargent who played of late in the U-20 World Cup, will be just the second US player ever to be in both during the same year, he will sign with Weder Bremen in Jan. 2018 upon turning 18.

Weah of course, the son of the legendary George Weah the 1995 FIFA World Player of the Year and current presidential candidate in his native Liberia.

C.J. Dos Santos plays for SL Benfica.

Sergino Dest is with Ajax.
