On the latest installment of the MLS podcast Extra Time Radio, Red Bulls coach Hans Backe was interviewed. Backe described the importance of Rafa Marquez by mentioning Rafa’s ability to pass both long and short, the extra possession that he provides for the team, and his experience. With 6 games to go in the regular season, Backe explained that he wants to be able to play 8-9 of his starting XI in each game. He described how he now has 4-5 players on the bench who can change the game and how that is a “huge advantage” for the Red Bulls. With 4 of the remaining 6 games being at home, the team is focused on winning all of its remaining home games, while still trying to get results on the road. The game on Wednesday against Kansas City is a big game as the Red Bulls want to finish first in the Eastern Conference and gain the home field advantage for the play-offs.
