Rafa Mentzingen took the shot only for the Hailstorm goalkeeper Lalo Delgado to hit it away. However Louis Perez took a free kick from the eighteen-yard box, that hit off Northern Colorado’s keeper into the net making it 1-0 right before halftime.
The second half of the match Northern Colorado held 70% of possession, making it extremely difficult for the North Carolina defense. However North Carolina FC doubled their lead in extra time at the end of the match after Chris Lue Young hit a long ball over the top to Anderson who dribbled around the Northern Colorado goalkeeper for his 10th goal of the season. North Carolina’s goalkeeper Trevor Mulqueen recorded his first clean sheet of the season. North Carolina will now go on a road stretch with a 5 match unbeaten streak.
