DC United acquire Frederic Brillant

Just announced, DC United have acquired from divisonal rival NYCFC, defender Brillant for just $75,000 and an international spot for the Frenchman. He is now tied to United for 2 years including the first in their new stadium that we had brought you the details on. His 2 years were the 2 years NYCFC made the playoffs with an over all record of 26-14-14 when he played.  Dave Kasper, GM @ DC stated "One of out top priorities this off-season was acquiring an experienced central defender and we are very pleased to complete this transfer." 2016 saw Frederic lead NYCFC defenders in many catagories, appearances and starts 33, minutes 2,970, duels won 65.2%, arial duels 111, total passes 1,702, clearances 205 & interceptions 90. During his first season he would start 31 of 34 regular season games, heading the defense and NYCFC to their first playoffs. With Brillant in the back, NYCFC achieved 8 blank sheets as he netted his first goal in a 2-2 tie with Orlando May 29 earning him the NYCFC player of the moth distinction. 2017 had him continue to be huge for NYCFC with another goal in 23 appearances, it was the game winner 2-1 against Chicago July 22. With his help, NYCFC had the 3rd fewest goals allowed in the conference, good for 5th in MLS with only 43 conceeded.

A former first divison player with 5 years service in Belgium with 111 appearances and 12 goals in 2 terms with Koninklijke Voetbolclub Oostende and Koninklijke Beerchot Antwerp Club and NYCFC signed him after giving up a MLS high of 58 goals in 2015.
