By Sean McCaffery, January 6, 2020

The last hopes to be the best as NYCFC has named the final HC for all of MLS 2020 as ex Valerenga of Norway's highest level of soccer has signed on with a three year deal. As a coach he has found great successes, coaching in the UEFA Champions League qualifieres and UEFA Europa League alike. As a player, Ronny was a defender and had headed Stromsgodset in his native land from 2008-'14, during which time they took their first championship in 43 years in 2013. Then he was back to Scotland for world renowned Celtic from 2014-'16 with a 2 Scottish Premiership rings in a row. WHile at Odds Bk in his Norway is where he spent most of his playing time.

He takes the helm of what was the top team in the East last year despite dropping out of the playofffs in fantastic fashion during a home game at an away venue, via defensive mishaps leading to both goals. A club record of 64 points, their earliest post season qulification and first Conference title, have built to their next game in the Concacaf Champions League just 6 weeks away in Costa Rica facing AD San Carlos, MLS play opens March 1 at the now saved Crew. Another big change upstairs was the departure of Claudio Reyna, to Sporting Director of 2021 MLS debutantes, Austin FC and the installation of David Lee, who had been the Technical Director. Delia stated "When the opportunity came to join New York City FC as their new Head Coach, it was a dream come true for me to manage an amazing Club in a great city. I'm really looking forwardd to getting going and getting to know the players in preseason and begin my time at NYCFC. I'm ready to see out supporters and hopefully we'll have a wonderful relationship. I'm goingto do everything I can to play good football the CIty way and I'll give everything from myself to the Club and I'm sure we're going to achive fantistic things in the future."
