The Ex is Next

Ex USWNT HC Jill Ellis, tapped as next Women's Soccer Award of Excellence honoree for USC. During their annual convention on Sat. Jan. 18 Jill will be so honored by WAGS in Baltimore. Since it's inception in 1999, this Award has been given to whoever they determined attracted honor and distinction to women's soccer. Wags is a source of funds utilized to further the women's game via numerous chairable programs for women and girls in soccer. USC Pres. Jeff Farnsworth stated "Jill Ellis is a very deserving recipient of the Women's Award of Excellencce". Tops in wins for US Soccer History, just passing our friend the late Tony DiCicco with her overall record of 106-7-19 and consecutive World CUp titles in 2015 & '19, making her the only Women's coach with only one other to take a pair of Cups. Through both the Cup & qualifying her teams went undefeated and overall 23-0-1, 13-0-1 in World Cup games, Of her 132 games there were 83 shut outs, well over half as they averaged 3.1 goals per game while allowing half a goal per. Stronger at the end as her teams finished on an 17 game run of wins, losing back-to-back but once and earning 8 titles over her tenure. The HC at UCLA from 1999-2010 during which time the Bruins went 229-45-14 and 8 final four tourneys, a trio of title games and 7 Pac-10 titles. Her college carrer was 247-63-14 over 14 years in the NCAA coaching ranks.
