By Sean McCaffery, June 18, 2019

In re-aggravating a left quad strain from his season with Derby County, Midfielder Duane Holmes is no longer a rostered player for the USMNT as they head into the Gold Cup Tues night. For instances such as this the teams maintain a 40 player provisional roster that any replacements must come from, more than 24 hours from kickoff of the team's first Cup game, June 18 at 10p.m.ET on FS1, UniMas & UDN this roster was due June 16.  The is game being played at Allianz Field in MN, it now has the record for the fastest sell out in Gold Cup lore. A bit of a revenge match is next up with TNT June 22 in Cleveland, then group play closes out with Panama June 26 in KC, both teams have been more than thorns in the side of the USMNT, amazing given their small populations.

Players with local ties who have rostered include, Sean Johnson of NYCFC, Aaron Long with NYRB, Matt Miazga of NJ, ex NJ pro, Tim Ream ex NJ pro, Michael Bradley, NJ & ex NJ pro, Christian Pulisic, father from Centereach LI, Jozy Altidore, ex NJ pro, Jonathan Lewis, traded from NYCFC this season.
