CARY, N.C. (March 19, 2024) — North Carolina FC and chairman Steve Malik today announce the first three additional, outside investors in the USL Championship club as part of an ongoing equity raise. Prior to this successful supplement of investors, Malik had been the sole owner of the Triangle’s men’s professional soccer team since he purchased it in 2015.
The diverse group of new investors set to join the club are Paul “Chip” Schorr IV, David Anderson, and Damian Mills. Together, the three showcase the local, state, and national interest in NCFC and men’s professional soccer in the United States. The dollar amounts and percentage of ownership from this first wave of investment were not disclosed, and North Carolina FC continues to consider further investment as the club builds on its massive success in 2023.

Major tournaments are coming to the States over the next few years, including the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup, and there is huge momentum behind our sport. Our club is also positioned for tremendous success. We won a league championship in 2023, have moved back up a level in 2024, and have made significant investment in a stellar team both on the field and in the front office. Sciandra, Executive Vice President of the North Carolina Football Club and leader of the NCFC equity-raise process.
Schorr has been a technology private equity investor for nearly three decades, and recently announced he would be creating a new technology focused middle market private equity platform.
Anderson splits his time between Raleigh and Wilmington, North Carolina, and currently serves as Vice President and Owner/Operator of 27 McDonald’s franchises. He has a long history of community involvement. He was actively involved as Chairman of the Board at First Fruits Ministries and on the boards of Ronald McDonald House, Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, and N.C Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Mills is CEO and founder of Mills Automotive Group with dealerships across six states, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and his native Louisiana. The North Carolina A&T graduate is chairman of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers and was an Automotive News 40 Under 40 honoree in 2013.
