Media Mess Up?

By Sean McCaffery, February 20, 2024
Another example of how poorly the leagues are doing for this coming season. Yesterday there were a number of coaches made available to media, great idea, in theory. Friday an email went out as a reminder, then less than 3.5 hours before start time, another, adjusting the time to earlier. If you have another job, and were able to adjust your meal break to get in your local team, teams of interest, it was due to go over an hour, you may now have missed out on one(s) you sought to interview. Many jobs do not even allow you to even get to your email. I checked email a the start of the business day, took care of more pressing things, returned a few minutes early to the pc and the interviews had begun, I sent out an email inquiring as to what had happened it is now over 20 hours, no reply. Thing was they could not see you, with them not able to see press, and almost half being first year coaches with their teams, not a good thing. They kept referring to the chat for changes, chat was disabled. Upon his introduction, RSL HC Pablo Mastroeni had his last name pronounced as ending in an O? Maybe 6 minutes before he was due on, a scheduling difficulty had Chris Armas of Long Island and an Inductee of the Long Island Soccer Player Hall of Fame unavailable. Another of any level within the league or teams was not then put before the camera, just see you in 15 or so minutes. If this was NOT soccer, bye, I am off the interviews as it is wasting my time, why can they not get the coverage they say they deserve, here is why, they do not deserve it. A few hours later, the interviews were sent out, a pleasant surprise, unless they had told of this before the original start time or in the chat.
