This distinction is truly for the student athlete, as there are academic standards that must be achived, a minimum 3.30 GPA is necessary to qualify for this award, to go along with starting 50% of the games and contributing to their team in at least the 2nd year with the team if a transfer student, if not a Junior and finally a head coach must nominate one for this high honor. Locally this is a very short list, from D2, Harry Pearce and Johna Mauritzson from LIU CW Post made the cut for the men joined by Jeanine Nunez out of Adelphi. 2nd team member, Nicole Forte at Aldelphi is joined by teammate, Taylor Sipos.
The D1 Academic All Americans will be announced on Dec. 14 followed by JUCO on Dec. 15.
