A loan from the competition has benefitted NCFC as they get the player from Indy 11 soon as approved by the leage and federation. HC Dave Sarachan stated, "I'm excited to add Ben to our roster." Speas similarly stated, "I'm excited to be coming back to the triangle area. I can't wait to get started and play in front of one of the best suporters' groups in the USL-the Oak City Supporters!"  In 2012 Ben joined the Crew as a homegrown player until 2015 totalling just shy of 3,000 minutes. 2016 saw him off to MN Utd. with 4 goals and 3 assists in his sole year there. 2017 saw him in Indy 11 with 7 goals and assists over more than 3,000 minutes. From Stow, OH, he played at UNC Chapel Hill leading them to the NCAA title in 2011, with the game winning goal he was named the College Cup MVP. He had a pair of years in Akron before as a Zip they took the title in 2010 after being runners up in 2009. Past loans have worked out well for NCFC  and they hope the quartet on loan pay similar dividends.
