CHICAGO (April 3, 2023) – U.S. Soccer and Nike unveiled the new 2023 home and away uniforms that the U.S. Women’s National Team will wear in the lead-up to and during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Following this early access window until April 12, the full 2023 Nike USA collection, including USMNT versions of the away jersey, will be available for purchase on June 5 on nike.com and ussoccer.com exclusively, and then will be widely available on June 8.
VISA COMPLIMENTARY CUSTOMIZATION

KIT DESIGN
Starting with listening to the players who embrace their role as trendsetters and boundary-pushers, the design, colors and aesthetic of the jerseys were heavily influenced and built by the players. Those players insights were combined with Nike designers' inspiration from abstract expressionism, an international art movement that started in the 1940s in New York and shifted the art epicenter from Europe to the U.S., similar to what the USA team has done for women’s soccer.
On the uniforms – and throughout the overall collection – is a custom USA “signature.” The bespoke mark is hand painted with ink on paper, and is a nod to the abstract expressionism movement, where each artist would sign their painting.
Lastly, the USA’s inner pride mark celebrates the USWNT’s four Women’s World Cup championships in 1991, 1999, 2015 and 2019.
Home Kit
The USWNT home uniform – which will debut on the field during the two-game series against the Republic of Ireland on April 8 and 11 in Austin, Texas, and St. Louis – reflects an unexpected take on the tradition of wearing white at home and features a bespoke drip paint technique pattern.
Highlighting the energy of the USWNT and how they are diverse players and personalities, but always united, the action painting method pattern features a distinctive placement, making every single jersey unique. The jersey also features distinctive gold branding as a nod to the team being the four-time World Cup champions and will be paired with blue shorts and white socks.

Away Kit
The away uniform, which will be worn by both the USWNT and USMNT, features a bespoke stars and stripe print on the sleeve cuffs – a diagonal stripe with intersecting stars – and a neckline that also features red blades, formed to look like the tip of stars. Both are subtle, patriotic nods to the hidden shapes that are inspired by abstract expressionism art. The away jersey will be paired with blue shorts and socks.

Goalkeepers
The goalkeepers kit features a shared print that was inspired by the host nations of the 2023 tournament – Australia and New Zealand – and each of Nike’s 13 Federation’s had the ability to select from various colors. The USWNT and USMNT goalkeepers will be outfitted in either Opti Yellow, Taxi, Stadium Green, or Blue Chill.
INNOVATION
Backed by its largest-ever investment in women’s specific innovation, the cutting-edge designs feature significant improvements in material, fit and sustainability.
The 2023 Women’s National Team Collection debuts the latest material innovation from Nike, tuned explicitly to her unique needs. With dynamic movements specific to women in mind, Nike engineered the all-new kits pixel by pixel to provide precise mobility, reinforcement and venting, all with the focus of helping athletes stay cool, comfortable and move easier.
Employing creation methods that weren’t available for the 2019 tournament, designers were able to interchange mesh and ribbed textures depending on the performance characteristics needed — like stretch or compression. As the teams navigated restrictions during the pandemic, 3D tools allowed Nike designers to test, analyze and refine their ideas in motion on a female footballer avatar. This led to a better design faster, allowing the designers to obsess every detail and federation partners to weigh in earlier in the process.
Material:
- The new kits feature Nike DRI-FIT ADV Technology – Nike’s latest advanced performance material innovation engineered for the body in motion.
- While creating the material for the new kits, Nike designers prioritized mobility, breathability and of course sustainability.
- Nike designers leveraged the latest advanced body-mapping-technology, 4D data and state-of-the-art digital design tools to tune the material pixel by pixel, providing reinforcement, mobility, breathability and venting exactly where it’s needed most.
- The material of the new jerseys and shorts for our women’s footballers move sweat away from the skin for quicker evaporation — helping athletes stay cool, dry, comfortable and focused.
- Three color expressions: cross-dye, tonal cross-dye and solid.
Fit:
- New side panel, offering increased stretch, breathability and improved movement through the core.
- Two neckline options, based on her preference for neck and shoulder stretch and movement.
SUSTAINABILITY
The future of the game is critically important to these athletes, making sustainability of the gear they wear essential. Nike designers made sustainable considerations in every aspect of these new kits. Throughout development, Nike designers focused on reducing waste at every stage through reduction, reuse and recycling.
Made of 100% recycled polyester from recycled plastic bottles, the kits utilize less material, almost doubling fabric marker efficiency compared to 2019. To use less fabric, Nike designers boosted marker efficiency (or fabric yield) to 85% (up from 40-50% in the 2019 World Cup). This was achieved in the wider mesh side panels on the jersey and short as well as the sleeve panels.
Also, the USWNT crests, Swoosh, and trims on the uniforms are made of 100% Nike Grind for the first time in a Nike kit on this stage. Nike Grind is a collection of recycled materials developed by Nike that is composed of pre-consumer manufacturing scraps, recycled post-consumer shoes from the Reuse-A-Shoe program, and unsellable footwear.
The U.S. Men’s National Team will also begin wearing the new 2023 away uniform while keeping its current home kit for the remainder of the year.
