NYCFC add an asst., hiring from within but not the usa

Nick Cushing, a familiar name to soccer fans has been tabbed as an asst. to new NYCFC HC Ronny Deila's staff. A half dozen years after joining Man CIty Women Foot Ball Club as HC, set up in a great position to establish him has a top skipper in that side of the game. Still at just 35, he took many a trophy in his term with City, not limited to the 2016 WSL & FA WSL Manager of the Year, he also brought home the FA WSL Cup in 2014, the FA Women's Cup & FA WSL Cup in 2016-'17 & 2018-'19.  He also brought them to the UEFA Women's Champions League semi. During his tenure in with City, he has been lucky enough to coach some of the top players in the game, FIFA Women's World Player of the Year and twice a World Cup winner in Carli Lloyd. High level member of the Lionesses, Capt. Steph Houghton, Karen Bardsley, & Jill Scott have also worked below him

Nick informed "It was not an easy decision to leave Manchester CIty Women's team and it's a bittersweet moment saying goodbye to the amazing players and staff I've had the chance to work with here. With that said, I'm delighted to stay within the CIty Football Group family and join Ronny Delia's staff at New York City FC. It is an incredible opportunity for me to join a fantastic Club in a league that is growing more and more with each passing year."

NYCFC HC Delia stated "I'm very excited that Nick will be joining our staff at New York City FC. The style with which his teams have played mirror the type of footballl we strive to play at NYCFC. I know our players and staff will be better because Nick is around.

Nick has been with City FootBall Group for 9 years, since his start as a City Schools coach, then being a key person in the Manchester City Academy coaching staff getting his UEFA A as he was with the 12-16 Development Phase players. While there he played a role in the development of many Man City men, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle and U-21 Phil Foden of the Lions. Cushing as stated by coach espouses an identical thinking and way of doing things as does NYCFC, he strongly belives in the improvment of player and sides to be victorious regardless of level.

Additionally he's a brilliant talent developer and has a proven track record of getting the most out of his players. Not only is he an excellent football coach, he is an incredible person of the highest character and will fit in seamlessly to the culture that has been built here in New York City."

He joins the club after the last match in facing Arsenal Feb 2.
