NYCFC WINS, Away, Shutout 2-0 @ Montreal

By Sean McCaffery, May 5, 2019

Still with twice as many ties as wins, NYCFC earned half as many wins as they had all season in their last 90 minutes of play, at times they have played more than well enough to win but failed to do so, this had each of the local NY teams win, a great soccer weekend for the local fans. The first game James Sands did not dress but local player from Queens Danny Bedoya did. Moralez had a hand or more accurately, a foot in each goal as he assisted one after getting his own early in the first half at 6'. Again there were may cautions issued for Unsporting Behavior a pair for each team. It may be a welcome month from home as they now have twice the wins away as at home, a goaless draw at home almost a month ago to the day only half changed with some help from Heber on  a free kick by Novillo as he headed away the chance at 23'. NYCFC got at it early, in the first 5 minutes they were pushing in their offensive third then Tinnerholm sent a ball out to Sweat who then put it right into the path of the attacking Moralez for his inital goal of the season. Montreal tried to have their impact felt with the 23' ball headed off by Herber. Lovitz committed a foul giving the free kick opportunity to NYCFC at 34', the ball from Tajouri-Shardi but his pass to Chanot had the shot taken care of by the MLS Player of the Week last week, GK Bush. Just 3 shots were allowed by the stout NYCFC defense, the 36' header by Taider was handled by Johnson and the home team entered the half as they would finish, with no goals. The 2nd half was a mirror image of the first as NYCFC was at them again early, Tinerholm again up the right side he held off the pressure and onto the ball into the penalty area dishing to Tajouri_Shradi for his 3rd of the year at 49'. Some great ball movement had Ring feeding it to Herber who found Medina for the tap in, but Jesus was offside. Now NYCFC have shutout their opposition in half their games, one goal by the home team would make a big difference in their place in the standings.
