Pulisic gets picked, now has a Pair of the US Soccer Male Player of the Year Awards

By Sean McCaffery, December 12, 2019

US Soccer has stated that "for his excellence at the highest level of the sport", I must beat the dead of horse of the whole of the USMNT not getting to the highest level, this past World Cup. Two years removed from his last nod for this massive honor, the first of which had him the youngest to be so rewarded for a year well done besting Landon Donovan by about 150 days. One of just 25 different players to be awarded this since Ricky Davis in 1984. of which we have met a bakers dozen, a number of them local players, Rick Davis of the NY Cosmos & NY Express, Peter Vermes of NJ, Mike WIndischmann of Queens & Adelphi, Tab Ramos of NJ, Alexi Lalas of Rutgers, Chris Armas now of RBNY as their HC, Adelphi, Long Island Rough Riders also from Long Island & Michael Bradley of NJ ex NYRB player, even the father or Christian is out of Long Island. A close 2nd was Jordan Morris, his 35% was just 3 off the pace of Pulisic. The votes came from NT coaches, NT players with at least one cap on the year, USSF Bd. of Dir., US Athletes Council, NWSL HC's, MLS & USL HCsS , select media members(where is my ballot?), administrators & ex players.

Despite having his time played between the midfield & wing, he set another age mark in being the youngest ever to double digits in goals for the MNT as he had the loan goal in the 1-1 game with Chile on Mar. 26 in Houston. This opened his account on the year, closing with 5 goals and 3 assists. In the Gold Cup, he helped pace the US by way of his 3 goals and 3 assists as they finished up as runners up, placing him on the Best XI for the games. For all USMNT games, he was tops in being named Man of the Match.

HIs high priced moved from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea of the EPL was well documented and discussed, as he was first loaned back to the Bundisliga side for another 13 games. He moved over in Aug. for the next phase of his profession, he now is in form with 5 goals and 4 assists in just 19 games, and a 3 game goal streak on the line in the EPL, a hat trick in a 4-2 trouncing of Burnley made him the 2nd from the US to do such a thing and the youngest in club history to do so.
