Sporting KC hosts Minnesota Thursday

Tonight we are at the NYCFC game facing Colombus and we hope to bring back some exclusive photos with a former Crew player who was also with the USMNT, but Thursday, SKC matches up with 2nd place Minnesota. SKC is looking to make it a 9 year straight run of MLS playoffs and helped themselves towards that end Saturday in turing around a 1-0 score to 2-1 in surviving the 'Quakes. In this win, Benny Feilhaber made history in becoming the 3rd active player in the league to get to his 40th goal and 60 assist, as his tying goal in the 50th minute achived that for his regular season games. 76' saw Graham Smith get his first pro goal to seal the deal. Vermes's charges have been a banged up bunch this year  but Thurs. will not look like the training room as only one, but a big one is out, Gerso Fernandes due to his ankle, the Hungarians, Botond Barath & Krisztian Nemeth are both off the injury report. This fuller roster will provide Vermes and stafff with a plethora of lineups and players for this big matchup. Minnessota with 3rd year HC Adrian Heath are at levels not seen before as in their first 2 years in MLS they failed to reach the playoffs after a decent run in the NASL, yet they had a dismal 4-26-4 road record and are now 2nd in the west with the previous 2 years wins sought to be exceeded tomorrow. In the last 2.5 months they are on a tear with a 10-1-3 record to show for it. Quintero, Finlay & Rodriguez all found the back of the net in US Open Cup play v SKC on June 12, a 4-1 win for the Loons. Opara the defender for MN hopes to bring the pain of a loss to his old home, having been with SKC from 2013-'18 during which they took both the MLS & US Open Cups. SKC has all but owned the Loons with a 4-0 record at home and a 13-1 goal differential, if they are able to keep that out of their heads, the team from the North may just prevail.
