May 2, 2023-The Commack Soccer League is hosting its Fifth Annual TOPSoccer Festival this Saturday, May 6 at the Burr Road Soccer Complex. Eight fields plus an open area for the younger players will be in use from 9 am to noon at the soccer complex.

Commack, a Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) club, started this big event in 2017 and it was played again in ’18 and ’19, went on hiatus because of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 but then returned last year. Up to 200 TOPSoccer players, both boys and girls, from across Long Island are once again expected to have fun.

TOPSoccer stands for The Outreach Program for Soccer. It provides a safe and fun environment plus an opportunity for the child who is different from the average kid in mental, physical or social characteristics and requires modified educational practices and services in order to develop to his or her potential. The first program originated in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) in 1978 at a time when Special Children playing sports was not as readily accepted as it is today.

May 6 will be a fun day for all ages and abilities. In addition to all the soccer, there will be a disc jockey, barbecue, face painting and giveaways. Admission is free. For more info about participating or anything else, please contact Marlene Kasman at csltopsoccer@gmail.com

With approximately 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 10 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/
