USSF Gets a New Mouthpiece

Today, the USSF announced the taking on of new legal council, Karen Leetzow after a pair of decades with NASCAR, serving as Senior VP & General Counsel. She will assume her new position in Chicago early Aug., for Wil WIlson, this is big as she is his intial new person at the executive level since he became Secretary General & CEO of the USSF.

While with NASCAR, Karen headed a 21 person legal team for the daily operations along with a 5 person risk management group. WIth her comes her vast resume in the legal world to USSF from collective bargining, anti-trust and trademark issues, litigation management, sponsorship deals, intellectual property, employment, risk managment as well as mamagement of outside counsel.

WIlson informed "Karen brings a vast amount of expertise and broad legal background to US Soccer. She has a strategic mindset and a tremendous work ethic and skill set will further strengthen the foundation of our organization."

She and her spouse, Brett Schaback, legal counsel to the Cubs. Karen is fluent in German. Her JD is from the American University Washington College of Law in DC and a BA in Poli Sci out of Univ. of Vermont.
