AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK TO FACE OSNER’S FC IN U.S. OPEN CUP ON SEPTEMBER 13TH
The match to be played at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn
Long Island, NY (September 1st, 2026) – American Soccer Club New York will face NPSL North Atlantic Conference Rival Osner’s FC in a U.S. Open Cup Qualifying First Round match on Sunday September 13th at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.
Kickoff for the match is set for 8pm.
“We have tremendous respect for the history and tradition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup,” said American Soccer Club NY Managing Partner and General Manager Jim Kilmeade. “This marks an important moment for American Soccer Club NY as we take the field against our NPSL rivals in our opening match. To have the opportunity to compete in this historic tournament is something we do not take lightly. We’ve added new players and our coaching staff is working on their integration into the team. We embrace the opportunity that the U.S. Open Cup presents.”
American Soccer Club NY will be participating in the U.S. Open Cup for the second time. On August 31st, 2025, the Fighting Tomcats fell to New York Renegades FC 2-1 in a First Qualifying Round match played at the SUSA Orlin & Cohen Complex in Central Islip.
After making the NPSL playoffs in just their second season, the Fighting Tomcats are set for their second appearance in the U.S. Open Cup.
“We’re looking forward to, once again, playing in the U.S. Open Cup,” said American Soccer Club NY Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “It’s a competition with great heritage and offers the “little guys” an opportunity to work our way up to competing against the “big guys”. It’s a very competitive and difficult road to maneuver, but I feel that we’re up to the challenge to make a good run.”
This year’s tournament, organized by the United States Soccer Federation, will be the 111th in its history and will feature clubs from the three pro tiers of the U.S. Soccer League system as well as clubs from an open division. It’s a single-elimination knockout tournament with the winner capturing the historic Dewar Challenge Trophy. Teams enter the tournament at various stages based on their level in the American soccer pyramid.
