His bio reads he is 6' 2" and 161 pounds, I am 6' 170 so he and the team must hope a strong wind does not hit Wake Med Park and take away Sam Brotherton. He is described as a big signing, that might be a tall order for a 160 pounder but enough on that. He has some top teams on his resume including Sunderland where he was a center back, the same role Dave Sarachan expeccts him to fill now. A veteran of the New Zeland national team he already has 15 games to his credit including World Cup qualifiers.

The Whitecaps and Canadian international Marcel De Jong have mutually agreed to part ways, having appeared in 46 games overall for the team. 'Cap HC Marc Dos Santos had this to say, "We are thankful to Marcel for his contributions." In his 2 plus years with the team he had 6 assists. He has been with teams in a few nations including the academy for Holland powerhouse PSV Eindhoven, in Germany with Augsburg, Ottowa of the NASL in Canada and MLS side Sporting KC.

Now with their 3rd DP, Alexandru Mitrita has arrived on a permanent transfer away from Universitatea Craiova in the Romanian Liga I all that remains is the paperwork. He is one of the more versitile players, adept at attacking mid, wing or forward, this multi year contract has him already in Abu Dhabi and the rest of NYCFC for preseason. Mitrita informed, " I'm very happy to be a part of this team. I know this is a good group. The team has a very good coach .

This is a big addition as Jasser stands 6'4" and this center back will shore up the defense as the team adds yet another young talent, he follows Hwang In-beom while the team continues to ready itself for kickoff, Mar. 2 at home. Interestingly this is the first player from Tunisia in MLS. HC Marc Dos Santos had this to say of the new player, "He's 6'4", he has very good speed, and he's comfortable with the ball . He can become an important player for this team." This is a 3 year deal, the club holds the option for the last of the years.

The midfielder Efraim and team have gone their separate ways as of Friday. Whitecaps VP of Soccer Operations, Greg Anderson stated, "We are thankful to Efraim for his time with the club."
